Subject: New step to protect your privacy using my Social Security
Date: July 29, 2016 8:02 AM
“Starting in August 2016, Social Security is adding a new step to protect your privacy as a my Social Security user. This new requirement is the result of an executive order for federal agencies to provide more secure authentication for their online services. Any agency that provides online access to a customer’s personal information must use multifactor authentication.
When you sign in at ssa.gov/myaccount with your username and password, we will ask you to add your text-enabled cell phone number. The purpose of providing your cell phone number is that, each time you log in to your account with your username and password, we will send you a one-time security code you must also enter to log in successfully to your account.
Each time you sign into your account, you will complete two steps:
Step 1: Enter your username and password.
Step 2: Enter the security code we text to your cell phone (cell phone provider’s text message and data rates may apply) [Could the Social Security Administration not do this using our e-mail address which they already have? That is what my banks do. Actually they give me a choice between e-mail and a cell phone text].
The process of using a one-time security code in addition to a username and password is one form of ‘multifactor authentication,’ which means we are using more than one method to make sure you are the actual owner of your account.
If you do not have a text-enabled cell phone or you do not wish to provide your cell phone number, you will not be able to access your my Social Security account.
If you are unable or choose not to use my Social Security , there are other ways you can contact us. To learn more, please review the Frequently Asked Questions found here.”
Note, from the date above, that this was e-mailed to me yesterday July 29. Note also that the specific start date is “Starting in August 2016.”
As it happens, I wanted to send a letter to the Social Security Administration Commissioner. Try finding a mailing address for her! I did eventually but it took me awhile. Therefore, I didn’t go to “my Social Security” account until this afternoon.
I went to the account this afternoon to wipe out my account. There is no way I am going to voluntarily give the Obama Administration or any part of it my private cell phone number. There is also no way I am going to pay a texting fee to see my private information. I don’t care if the cost is only 2 cents. I don’t trust this Administration at all. It is, in my opinion, the MOST corrupt Administration in our history!
Guess what. I couldn’t get in without first providing a cell phone number to have a text sent to me. The Social Security Administration obviously does not know when August starts! If they are not going to change it on a Sunday, then they should have waited until Monday. Today is still July. It was not said, “Starting July 30th.” Bureaucracies!

“New security feature
The Social Security Administration has implemented a new sign-in feature for your account. This new security feature protects your personal my Social Security account by using your username, password and a security code that we will text to your cell phone when you sign in.
Why do I need a cell phone that can receive text messages?
Your account and personal information are important to us. This step increases security.
How does it work?
Step 1: Sign In
Sign in with your username and password.
Step 2: Get Text Message
We will send a text message that contains a security code to your cell phone.
Step 3: Submit Code from Text Message
Enter the security code from the text you received.
What if ...
I don't have a cell phone?
I can't receive text messages on my cell phone?
I don't want to enter my cell phone number?
I change my cell phone number in the future?
I am overseas?”
I kid you not. If you click on I don't have a cell phone? This is the information you receive:
If you do not have a cell phone, you will not be able to access my Social Security. To access your personal my Social Security account, you need a cell phone that can receive text messages. Each time you log in, we will text your cell phone a security code that you must input in order to access your account. Please visit our website to learn about other ways to contact us.

Wouldn’t that be a bit easier? Bureaucracies!
One of the things that has to be done to Restore the Constitution Take Back the Nation is to drastically reduce the size and the power of the federal bureaucracy! That is what I intend to do!
You can not win the election if you do not run for the office. You can not win the election if you do not get on the ballot.
Vote Darrell Castle for President. The Constitutional Conservative!
I am a Christian, Constitutionalist, conservative.
