Let’s be clear. Undocumented immigrant is the Left’s euphemism for illegal alien. There is no such thing as an undocumented immigrant. An immigrant is someone who comes into another country legally to settle in that new country. Every person who comes into this county illegally is by definition violating the laws of the United States and is an illegal alien. Every person who stays within the United States after the expiration of his date of departure is an illegal alien violating the laws of the United States.

The Democratic Party platform calls for ‘Fixing the Broken Immigration System.’ On his Congressional website, House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wisconsin) has an entire page dedicated to the immigration issue, leading with ‘Our immigration system is broken …’

For years, we’ve been hearing amnesty advocates and immigration expansionists call the system ‘broken,’ but their solution is always to grant legal status and lifetime work permits to 11 million illegal aliens while doubling the number of green cards and temporary work permits issued to foreign nationals every year. Of course, they very rarely mention enforcement. [Do they ever speak/write of enforcement?].

While immigration reductionists, like NumbersUSA, agree with the expansionists that the immigration system is broken, we disagree on what is really broken. The expansionists say it’s because we don’t allow in enough foreign citizens. But they can’t deny the fact that three consecutive White House Administrations have failed to end the magnets that encourage illegal immigration, [Clinton, Bush, and the Obama Administrations! The Obama Administration has done much more to violate the laws of the United States than to enforce the laws of the United States including encouraging and allowing the invasion of our Southern border by all manner of illegals!] have failed to enforce immigration laws in the nation’s interior, and have failed to achieve 100% operational control at and between all ports of entry.

Earlier this week, Roy [founder of NumbersUSA] posted a blog that lists the ‘10 Steps to Fix our Broken Immigration Enforcement System’ that our Capitol Hill specialists assembled based on their deep experience with the law and people in immigration enforcement. The steps are listed below, and there’s a new petition urging your three Members of Congress to take legislative action to fix our broken immigration enforcement system [I doubt if any of my three Illinois Congressmen are willing to fix the system as recommended although I did sign. The highest Conservative Review Scorecard rating of the three is my Republican Representative from District 18 and his scorecard rating is a dismal 33%. Republican Senator Mark Kirk, who is up for reelection this year, is sounding more and more like a Democrat and his scorecard rating is an abysmal 17%. Democrat Senator Dick Durbin is at the bottom at a putrid 2%—the lowest Illinois Congressman scorecard rating after being in Congress for 20 years!].

1. Make E-Verify mandatory for all U.S. employers to eliminate the jobs magnet [It isn’t now? It should be, unfortunately. It also needs to be enforced!].

2. Complete the Congressionally-mandated biometric entry/exit system to track non-immigrant visitors to the U.S. [When my daughter was a senior in high school, we had an exchange student from Brazil in the home. Two years later, he called me saying he was in California. He said he had decided to stay within the United States illegally!]

3. End the practice of birthright citizenship for illegal aliens and foreign visitors [I do not believe birthright citizenship as defined by the courts is constitutional. One of the many instances where the courts rewrote the Constitution by interpretation!]

4. Require state and local law enforcement to report affirmatively all non-citizens in custody to ICE, make ICE detainers mandatory, and require ICE to pick up and remove deportable aliens [All this already should be done? More Obama Administration lawlessness?].

5. Expand expedited removal to include all illegal aliens with criminal convictions [Why is this not already being done! Illegal aliens should either be in prison or permanently out of the United States!].

6. End catch-and-release of illegal aliens by requiring that they be detained until removal [Absolutely!].

7. Deny immigrant and nonimmigrant visas to nations that refuse to repatriate their citizens [Absolutely agree!].

8. Reform the judicial process in immigration courts, including restricting relief from removal, to expedite the process and reduce the backlog of cases [People who are here illegally should be expelled or imprisoned!].

9. Restrict asylum to the internationally recognized definition of those who are unable to be returned to the home country due to a well-founded fear of (state) persecution due to race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion [I would be much more strict than this. Restrict asylum to a case by case basis that can be prevented by 20% of either House of Congress in which case the asylum is only granted by law requiring the asylum to be approved by Congress and signed into law by the President. I know, this should not be necessary. However, the Obama Administration has proved that it is!].

10. Allow Border Patrol access to all federal lands [They don’t have it now? We have sanctuary federal land? That is obscene!].

My immigration reform:

1) Follow and enforce the laws now on the books,

2) No illegals and no amnesty for illegals ever,

3) Secure the border,

4) Impeach President Obama for allowing the U.S. to be invaded

[Article IV Section 4: “The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened), against domestic Violence.” When the new Congress begins on January 3, 2017, President Obama is still in office until January 20, 2017.],

5) undo every illegal action President Obama permitted,

6) and freeze all legal immigration and programs for two years except those already in the pipeline to clean up the disasters caused by the illegal actions. Streamline the legal immigration program. At the present time, it may take years to get approved legally!

End result, selected legal immigration and “no” illegals. Probably can’t stop illegals completely.

7) “Birthright” citizenship has been misapplied by the courts. Congress needs to clarify what the Constitution intended. My ex was an emergency room nurse at the largest hospital in Tucson. It is true that pregnant women form Mexico (and beyond) came to the U.S. for the purpose of having the baby delivered in the U.S. to gain citizenship for the baby.

You can not win the election if you do not run for the office. You can not win the election if you do not get on the ballot.
